Arena racing suits buying guide

Buying the right race suit can often be a headache, especially when buying your first one. In this guide, we will introduce Arena's race suits, their features and differences to make choosing a race suit easier.

When is it time to buy a racing uniform?

This depends on the swimmer's body type and growth stage, but in general, it is important for young swimmers to get a technical competition suit when they move on to IKM competitions. Before that, Arena's Powerskin St Next and Speedo's Junior Endurance+ competition suits are good choices, as they also come in children's sizes.

Powerskin Veloce racing suit

Veloce is a versatile new suit that is suitable for all swimming disciplines and trips. The suit meets the needs of swimmers who prioritize maximum comfort without compromising on compression. The suit supports the muscles and allows plenty of room for movement.

The suit's Hyperforce™ fabric is tenso-elastic (tension + elasticity); the fabric is firm but flexible. Veloce combines medium compression, durability and a completely new kind of stretch throughout. The suit feels comfortable to wear and does not restrict movement. The Hyperforce™ fabric has a flow-controlling surface that reduces water resistance and improves glide.

The new Flex-Max shoulder straps are wider. With a flexible base and edge, the straps stay in place against your shoulders without bunching up. The wider width allows for better pressure distribution, reducing shoulder strain.

The flexible suit is easy to put on, which speeds up your race day routine significantly. The Veloce can be put on in five minutes, compared to 30-45 minutes for a traditional competition swimsuit. Still, choose the same size as your previous Arena competition swimsuit or follow the size chart. The speed of putting on the suit does not indicate the size. The flexible Veloce is comfortable to wear and still provides higher compression.

The women's Veloce model is available in two different lengths, depending on the length of the upper body. The longer length is available in sizes 30-34. Veloce is a FINA / World Aquatics approved competition swimsuit.

Instructions for putting on and storing the racing suit

When putting on a competition suit for the first time , patience is key, as putting on the suit may initially take up to 20-30 minutes. The suit should be put on slowly, the fabric should not be pulled with your nails or torn at the seams. This is especially important when pulling the suit over your hips. It is also a good idea to put on the suit with, for example, thin cotton gloves. This will prevent tears caused by sharp points on your nails.

When putting on the suit, the silicone bands on the legs should be turned outwards .

Women: once the suit is put on, the top of the suit should be wetted and the air should be squeezed out between the suit and the skin. This will make the suit fit more tightly and prevent too much water from getting under the suit at the start.

Men: NOTE! MEN'S SUITS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT ON, for example, the starting podium, when the laces are tightened - the inelastic elastic band can tear. The laces should be tightened crosswise so that the seam tape does not tear.

How do you store your suit to ensure its lifespan is as long as possible?

The suit should be dried immediately after use and should not be washed in a washing machine. Do not dry the suit in a sauna, with a hair dryer or other similar methods and store the suit away from light.

A new suit is not always the fastest because it adapts to the swimmer's body during the first 10 starts.

At best, the suit will be slightly worn. We recommend that you purchase a new suit well in advance of the main competitions.
