Influencer marketing on social media
It is important to us that influencer marketing is done in line with the Consumer Ombudsman's guidelines.
"Influencer marketing refers to commercial cooperation between companies and influencers with the aim of promoting a company's products or increasing brand awareness. This commercial cooperation may, for example, take the form of a contract between a company and an influencer for the production of content on the company's products.
The end product of influencer marketing can be, for example, a video, audio or image publication or a blog post about the company or its products published by the influencer. Brand ambassadors are also subject to the same rules on advertising identifiability as other influencer marketing.
In return for marketing, the influencer may receive money or a monetary benefit from the company, such as a garment, a gift voucher or a trip. Even if the consideration received is not money, it is still marketing.
Identifiability of advertising is covered by consumer protection law. Consumers have the right to know when they are being commercially influenced."
The right to be informed of commercial interferencelabelling of commercial cooperation
It is the responsibility of both the company and the influencer to ensure that the commercial purpose of influencer marketing is made clear and that there is no hidden advertising. The marketing must be distinguishable from other content so that the consumer knows when it is commercially influencing.
Under consumer protection law, marketing must clearly indicate its commercial purpose and on whose behalf it is being marketed.The rule is the same regardless of the medium or the way in which the marketing is carried out.
Guidance for Aquaction influencers and athletes.
- Please indicate the commercial collaboration at the beginning of the publication using the words "commercial collaboration with Aquaction.fi".
- If the collaboration is agreed to cover more than one publication, please include a note for each publication, not just the first.
If you have received products for your use
- Please state at the beginning of the publication that this is influencer marketing, e.g. "product received, aquaction.fi"
- It is sufficient to mention the product received when the product appears in your channel for the first time or when the product is substantially related to your publication (e.g. the product is explicitly discussed in the publication).
